A few simple one light beauty portraits shot live

A few simple one light beauty portraits shot live on the @getolympus stage at @photoplusofficial in New York City last week. SWIPE FOR BTS Shot with the @getolympus OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 45mm F1.2 PRO lens Camera settings: ISO200 | 1/250s | F5.6 Lighting was one Godox AD200 mounted in a 36" Softbox Umbrella from @savageuniversal The last shot is a LIVE COMPOSITE image with 1/2 second exposures and I painted in the starbursts in real time, Tethered with @tethertools cables and TetherBLOCK, and using a Benro Tripod with an @acratech ballhead. In camera files were saved to @delkin.devices Power SD Cards. A few images from my FIND THE LIGHT photowalk sponsored by @getolympus last week @photoplusofficial . I don't shoot a lot on my photo walks because I am there to teach - but I couldn't pass up shooting a few frames of my incredible model @sofiabianchessi Hair & Makeup by @artistrybymonae We had some amazing early morning light in front of the Javits Center in NYC. All are direct sunlight both outside and inside the building with sunlight coming right through the glass. All shots were done with the @getolympus OM-D E-M1X and the M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 PRO ZOOM Lens. All shots were ISO 200 | 1/2500sec | F2.8 - 5.6 52mm - 60mm Focal Length on 40-150mm Zoom. @delkin.devices Power Cards used for storage.

PROBLEM SOLVING - At a camera store event for @getolympus I was scheduled to do a demo - outside. Unfortunately the weather in St. Louis turned cold and it snowed so we were forced to do the demo in a very small lobby of a small office building. So my background - a cheap painting on the wall. Lighting - two Godox AD200 strobes - the main with an @magnetmod MagBounce turned upside down (see second image) the second with a blue gel. The credit for this amazing body painted Alien with blackout contacts goes to the model and makeup artist himself @lukeeffects. I had the easy job. Shot on stage during a demo for @GetOlympus and @biggscamera in Charlotte, NC. The talk was about Fashion Portraits with small lights. Shot with the @getolympus OM-D E-M1X and the M.Zuiko 45mm F/1.2 PRO lens. ISO200 | 1/250s | F7.1 LIGHTING: These shots were done with 3 Olympus FL700WR speedlights and a shoot through umbrella I tethered with @tethertools cables and TetherBLOCK and Olympus Capture software. Backlit B&W Portraits with V-Flats and an upside down @magnetmod MagBounce! SWIPE FOR MORE IMAGES AND BTS I LOVE backlit B&W portraits inspired by the famous "Last Sitting" images of Marilyn Monroe taken by the late Bert Stern. Shot with the @getolympus OM-D E-M1X and the M.Zuiko 45mm F/1.2 PRO lens. ISO100 | 1/250s | F2.8 LIGHTING: These shots were done with 3 @godox_photo_equipment AD200 Pocket Flashes. Two of the strobes are placed behind the @vflatworld V-Flats to light and overexpose the background. The third is place in front of and above the model aimed directly at her with the MagBounce turned upside down to act a s a diffuser. This provides just a little fill and a nice catchlight. The v-flats on either side of the model help to prevent flare from the over exposed background and also add fill to create the soft shadowless light. Add a beautiful model like @ms.witherspoon and hair and makeup by @artistrybymonae and my job was easy. I tethered with @tethertools cables and TetherBLOCK and Olympus Capture software. In camera files were saved to @delkin.devices Power SD Cards. PROBLEM > SOLUTION I prefer to get it right in camera, but that is not always an option. This one-light shot was made during a seminar in Holland, Michigan and as you can see in the second image - the collar was dirty and smudged. So my option was to remove the collar or fix it in post which would be extremely time consuming and with a high degree of difficulty. The solution in post - add a texture and blue tint. CAMERA: The @getolympus OM-D E-M1X and the M.Zuiko 75mm F1.8 lens SWIPE FOR GEAR & TECHNICAL DETAILS Subject is lit with 1 - Godox AD200 in a Phottix Raja Deep Quick-Folding Softbox 24" in front of a @savageuniversal Stone Gray #9 Seamless Paper Background I tethered with @tethertools cables and TetherBLOCK and Olympus Capture software. In camera files were saved to @delkin.devices Power SD Cards.
